Green Bath and Body Cleans Up By Megy Karydes

What’s New?

What do tobacco, whisky, beer and charcoal have in common? They are all ingredients being used in personal care products today. We asked our experts what else they’ll be introducing in the coming months as well as what they’re noticing in the personal care marketplace.

“Body, face and bath oils are very popular right now,” says McLinden. “There are so many benefits to the antioxidants in natural oils, and after showering it locks in moisture.”

“Scents like tobacco, black cherry, dark ginger, lavender and violet noir really resonate with our customers,” says Bhinda.

“Even though oil cleansing has been around for a long time, it is the new rage!” notes Walker. “Basic chemistry tells us that oil attracts oil. Therefore, using a plant oil cleanser will dissolve oil-based dirt (sunscreen, or oxidized sebum) at the same time leaving skin protected and balanced, not stripped.”

“I am seeing a lot of companies moving towards glass or recycled packaging which is great,” Yagodzinski says.

“A lot more men’s products have come on the market recently, especially in the realm of beards, mustaches and shaving,” says Sennebogen Bryant. “Handmade beer soaps seem to be trending right now and toilet spray companies are on the upswing. I’ve also seen more non-toxic nail polish companies popping up.”
