Setting the Table By Becky Tyre

The focal point of many retail areas, display tables come in many shapes, sizes and configurations. A custom table is designed to have a personality of its own and plain tables are blank canvases for creative merchandising of almost any type of product.

Rope ’em in!

Creating vertical interest in a small shop is essential. This rope table was designed to divide the space in half and to create a nice flow for browsing. The table is not actually suspended from the ceiling, as it appears to be, but has six legs that hold the weight and also keep the table from swinging about. Lightweight merchandise like prints and photos are mounted on the ropes, extending the display area upward beyond the tabletop.

Hip to be Square

This custom-made display table was specially designed to hold individual glass cups of beads. The overall square shape continues on the tiers and the top tier is large enough to display a focal centerpiece. Stark white tables combined with the white floor really make the product pop.

Chart a New Course

A repurposed chart case becomes a display table in the museum store that accompanies an exhibit of the world’s oldest printed maps. The drawers, originally used to store flat maps, are proving ideal for poster storage in the new setting.
