A Little Something Extra
West Boylston, MA – Visitors to the International Gift Fair in New York City last week helped validate a new product line for Checkerboard Inc., a West Boylston company that, until recently, specialized in printed event invitations.
Only months ago, the family-owned company, which grew out of the former Chase Paper Co. in 1989, launched a selection of customized gift products personalized for homes or linked to weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs or children’s birthdays. In addition to its high-end invitations, the company also is now offering personalized pillows, plates and wall décor through 3,000 U.S. retailers.
The convention visitors told Checkerboard owner Micah S. Chase that providing new products, based on customers’ and retailers’ suggestions, made sound business sense.
