Bellville residents open new floral shop in OntarioBy Lou WhitmireMansfieldNewsJournal.com

Ontario — A group of Bellville residents have gotten their act together.

Kim Knapp, Ray Valentine and Kathy Heichel have opened Act 1 Floral Design Group in mid-December at 49 Briggs Drive, behind Discount Drug Mart.

The floral shop’s grand opening is noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Ontario Growth Association.

Knapp and Valentine, who are designers and consultants, have a combined 30 years of experience in the floral industry. Heichel, the business manager, has more than a decade of experience.

The new floral shop specializes in memorial work and weddings, Knapp said. The shop also handles custom silk work for homes and businesses.

“And we do banquets,” she said. “The silk and fresh flower arrangements are all made here.”

Knapp said the site includes consulting accommodations in a garden room decorated by the former tenants, a bakery.

Despite the winter weather, Knapp said Act 1 continued to make deliveries to all areas of Richland County, including Shelby. They also deliver to Crestline.
