Adora Debuts 15 New Dolls in Limited Edition Collection

Edison, NJ – Adora, one of the leading designers and crafters of fine limited edition and collectible dolls, announces the introduction of 15 new dolls to its Limited Edition Collection, including one brand new face sculpt. The dolls in the 2008 Limited Edition Collection are costumed in international garb, representing countries from around the globe. Authentic fabrics and materials were used to craft costumes that illustrate the rich cultural traditions of the countries and continents represented. The dolls are 22″ tall and retail for $140 – $180.00. Many editions are available in quantities of less than 300, further adding to the dolls’ rarity. In particular, Adora is well-known for capturing the beauty and ethnicity of its Asian and Polynesian babies, which include for 2008:

  • Ulani from Tahiti

Ulani (meaning cheerful) wears a traditional raffia grass skirt with a wood-beaded waistband. Lavender tassels and large oval seashells dangle from additional strands of wooden beads scattered across her hips. The colors of a tropical island are reflected in the floral print of her cotton shirt, and the bounty of the oceans is echoed in her miniature shell necklace and bracelets.

  • Kamala from Nepal

The beautiful Kamala wears a gauze tie-dyed skirt imprinted with swirls of velvet. Her brown cotton vest is fully lined and edged with rust colored braids. Underneath her vest, she wears a dazzling multi-colored shirt of batik-print broadcloth. Her elaborate black braids are decorated with a stunning headpiece constructed with metal medallions, pendants and teal-colored beads. Additional intricate jewelry creations of silver metal and turquoise-colored beads grace her neck and wrists.

  • Sujatmi from Indonesia

Sujatmi is on her way to visit Borobudur. Exotic bands of rich brocade adorn the edges her the cranberry shantung blouse that she wears with a tapestry skirt. Multi-colored glass ‘jewels’ are scattered generously across her sandals, sash and dazzling headpiece. Open-work metal beads dangle from her earrings, necklace and exotic crown.

  • Qian Ni from China

The outside of Qian Ni’s mandarin jacket is made of brilliant red silk, dyed with the lost-wax process. It is fully lined with beige faux-fur that peeks out along the neckline, sleeves and bottom edge. Her pants are made of shantung-silk and are also fully lined. An ornately embroidered matching green muff (to warm her tiny hands) hangs around her neck along with an attractive faux-jade cabochon encrusted necklace. Her hat is a colorful combination of silk and faux-fur and her shoes are an artistic expression of everything contained in her outfit.

Each doll in the Limited Edition Collection wears its very own heart shaped locket, inscribed with its name, limited edition number and “Adora, Inc. 2007 Collection.” The center of the locket contains a second, double sided heart that spins to reveal a miniature photo of the doll on one side and the Adora, Inc. logo on the other.
