Business keeps things localBy Lou WhitmireMansfieldNewsJournal.com

Mansfield — Cassandra Hehmeyer has always liked shopping for quality Ohio products at farm markets.

The Mansfield woman took the next step this month. She opened her own store, Mid-Ohio Made, at 1356 Lexington Ave. It features Ohio artisans and their quality, homemade items.

“Our goal is to raise awareness in our community for the people who make these products and to support the small businesses in mid-Ohio,” Hehmeyer said.

“We have everything from food items, bath and beauty products, clothing, purses, jewelry, pottery, handmade dishes, lamps, baby items,” she said.

Hehmeyer does not consider her new business a craft store, as many of the items for sale are products that can be used in peoples’ daily lives.

“They’re very practical, inexpensive things people can use,” she said of summer dresses for girls, handmade gift cards and baby shoes.
