Bustling Boutique Kicks off Holiday Season in Amherst
Amherst, OH – For a chilly Sunday afternoon, it may have seemed odd to see as many people as there were crowding the shops in downtown Amherst. But for The Mermaid’s Tale boutique, this was nothing out of the ordinary.
Hundreds of customers from across Lorain County bustled in the Amherst shop for its annual Christmas open house that kicked off the holiday season in the city, showcasing new products and connecting the community.
Judy Recknagel, owner of The Mermaid’s Tale, said the business has hosted its Christmas open house the first Sunday in November since it opened 23 years ago as an antique and gift shop. The since-transformed fashion boutique sees somewhere between 300 to 500 customers turn out to the holiday season opener, and the one-day event racks in 5-10 times the sales of an average day for the store, Recknagel said.
