Captain Candy Brings Back Your Momma’s Candy Counter in NorthamptonBy Lauren QuirciGazetteNet.com

Northampton, MA – There’s a new candy shop in downtown Northampton, and its mission is to deliver a sugar rush with a retro flair.

Captain Candy opened June 1, downstairs in Thornes Marketplace. The shop, owner Nolan Anaya says, is designed to deliver not only a variety of sweet treats from decades past, but an all-encompassing candy shop experience.

Captain Candy moved to Northampton after closing up its 103 North Pleasant St. shop in Amherst May 5. The Amherst Captain Candy had been open for more than three years. Anaya said though the shop was still profitable in Amherst, he thought Northampton might be a better fit. While there are several other sweet shops downtown — including another one in Thornes — Anaya believes there’s room for a new shop with its retro appeal.
