Chicago Toy & Game Group Announces Eighth Annual Young Inventor Challenge

The Chicago Toy & Game Group is looking for the next great toy and game ideas from the people that know best: kids! Orchestrated as part of the annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair (ChiTAG), the 2014 Young Inventor Challenge, presented by Spin Master, invites young people to harness the power and creativity of Edison, Jefferson, and Einstein for an original toy and game inventing competition. Challenge participants will unveil their creations during the ChiTAG Fair on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Chicago’s historic Navy Pier. Registration for the 2014 Young Inventors Challenge is free, and parents, guardians, and educators are invited to sign up young inventors online before November 4, 2014.

“Participation in the competition gives kids an entertaining, imaginative way to begin building lifelong skill sets that will serve them for years to come,” said Julie Blake, director of the Young Inventor Challenge.

Anyone between the ages of six and 18 is invited to participate in this exciting event that combines imagination, play, and critical thinking. In addition to an amazing creative experience, kids also have the chance to walk away a winner. During the ChiTAG Fair on Saturday, attendees will cast their votes for their favorite inventions based on originality, creativity, appeal, and presentation of the marketing message. Awards for “First Place,” “Runner Up” and “Fan Favorite” will be handed out to three winners in both the junior and senior categories. Six winners in total will be announced at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014.

The Chicago Toy & Game Fair draws professional toy and game inventors, industry representatives, and press from around the world to provide advice, critique, guidance, and encouragement to these impressive young creators.

“The Young Inventor Challenge offers the chance for young kids’ genius ideas to be seen and heard,” said Rachel Griffin of Spin Master, the presenting sponsor. “It’s a great platform to showcase creativity and invention.”

Adults with young inventors who wish to participate in this year’s competition are invited to register their child at http://chitagfair.com/young-inventor-challenge/. Educators are also encouraged to take part in the Young Inventor Challenge. From integrating toy and game inventor workshops, classroom projects, and after-school programs, to hosting school-wide competitions, the opportunities to help kids imagine, design, test, and create their own original toy or game inventions are endless!

Parents, guardians and educators can visit http://chitagfair.com/young-inventor-challenge/ for more information on the Young Inventor Challenge, including participation guidelines, kid-friendly brainstorming and record-keeping tactics, tips for designing and developing prototypes, and preparing their ChiTAG presentations.
