Village Walk residents can find gifts galore at new Country Store
Village Walk’s Town Center Ballroom is transformed into the Country Store each month.
Inside the ballroom, the community’s artists, jewelry designers and crafters take over by selling their creations.
“They’re all our residents,” said Elaine Rumble, Village Walk’s activities director. “We have all kinds of vendors.”
The idea to start the Country Store took root last fall when gift-basket maker and resident Maureen Ehrmentraut approached Rumble about finding a place where she could show off her creations, Rumble said.
“She said she had all these things and wanted a place to display them,” Rumble recalled. “I said, ‘Let’s put a call out and see if others would be interested.'”
So a small notice appeared in the community’s newsletter and nine people responded and the Country Store was born.
“We’ve been doing it since October and we’ve seen the vendors grown from nine to 15 to 27,” Rumble said.
