DMT makes Housewares show debut; celebrates 40 years of Made in USA

Longtime manufacturer, first time exhibitor DMT is set to make its debut at the 2016 International Home + Housewares Show (IHHS) in Chicago, March 5-8. The company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, will showcase its comprehensive line of diamond sharpeners for the home and kitchen.

“We are thrilled to be exhibiting at IHHS for the first time,” said DMT vice president Stacey Brandon. “With our sharpeners already world-renowned for our proprietary Diamond Technology, we’ve set our sights on the home and culinary markets, and IHHS is an ideal gateway opportunity.”

In 1976, as the U.S. celebrated its Bicentennial, DMT started its own revolution by using diamond for its sharpening surfaces and changed the face of sharpening forever. Over the next four decades, the company built its reputation as the worldwide leader by innovating and producing the highest quality knife and tool sharpeners available, all Made in the USA. With quality being its most important differentiator, DMT believes manufacturing in America is critical. And American ingenuity is just as big a part of the DMT story. The company holds more than 10 patents and has introduced more than 125 new products — a testament to the manufacturer’s tradition and spirit of innovation.

Beyond precise material and production standards, DMT has long been committed to global trade development and currently distributes to more than 30 countries. In 2014, the company received the President’s “E” Award for Exports, the highest recognition any American entity may receive for contributing to the expansion of U.S. exports.

Given the wide range of knife sharpening options on the market, manual diamond sharpening is the quickest and easiest method and—unlike other sharpening systems—it actually protects the investment in expensive cutlery. But don’t take our word for it. Bud, a professional chef for over 20 years, said, “I picked up a DMT diamond stone in the early 1980s and found a couple of light swipes was all I needed to restore a knife’s edge when back steeling would no longer do the trick.”

Among the products that DMT will feature at IHHS are the:

  • 8-inch DuoSharp Plus Sharpening Stone with Base
  • 12-inch Diamond Steel
  • Diafold Serrated Sharpener
  • Crystal Saver
