Downtown Retailer Danielle Brings European and New York flare to Napa’s Riverfront
Napa, CA – Danielle Mawlaoui said her interest in retail was sparked by her mother’s own clothing boutique in Orinda.
In the late 1990s, Mawlaoui was living in New York and working on Wall Street in the finance industry. “My mom would come visit and she would buy [clothing] for her store,” said Mawlaoui. While now retired, her mother ran her own boutique for 10 years, and worked in the retail industry for 30 years. Mawlaoui said she felt comfortable in retail.
After Mawlaoui found her corporate job becoming monotonous, the entrepreneur decided to open her first retail shop, called Danielle San Francisco, in 2003 on Union Street. Mawlaoui was living in the city when she decided to make her big career change.
