Fairbanks, AK – Enchanted Forest Toys is a rarity among stores that sell children’s playthings. It could go by an unofficial motto: No batteries required.

The store in the College Mall includes thousands of toys, but all of them run on old-

fashioned kid power. The wooden puzzles, animal puppets and board games all include the same basic ingredient.

“Everything we have, they’re classic creative devices,” owner Stacy Yates said. “The child needs to use their imagination.”
