Five Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards Presented to NY NOW Exhibitors

Five companies from across the United States were recognized as winners of NY NOW’s Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards, with Barr-Co. Natural Hand and Body Clay Scrub from K. Hall Studio, Inc. winning “Best of Market.” Four other Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards were presented in the categories of Bath & Body, Beauty Accessory, Natural/Organic and Packaging, and all five winners are eligible for NY NOW’s “Best of LIFESTYLE” Award, to be determined by online balloting – at http://bit.ly/NYNOW_BNP_LIFESTYLE – during the Winter 2015 edition of NY NOW®, the Market for Home + Lifestyle, which runs which runs Saturday, January 31, through Wednesday, February 4, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

A panel of trade editors selected winners and finalists based on criteria including materials used, design, salability and packaging. The winners and finalists for the winter 2015 Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards are:

BEST OF MARKET:

K. Hall Studio, Inc. (St. Louis, MO) for its Barr-Co. Natural Hand & Body Clay Scrub. Handcrafted in small batches using natural kaolin clay, shea butter, beneficial oatmeal and vitamin E.

BATH & BODY CATEGORY:

Winner: Hand in Hand™ (Philadelphia, PA) for its Rainforest Collection – solid perfume. 0.5 oz glass cosmetic jar with chimp art and gold foil.

Finalist: Amerikas (Miami, FL) for its Shower Cream with Ginseng by I Coloniali.

Finalist: J.R. Watkins (Winona, MN) for its 8.oz Peppermint Castile Bar Soap.

BEAUTY ACCESSORY CATEGORY:

Winner: ILLUME® (Minneapolis, MN) for its Chroma Tins. Oversized, enameled tins reminiscent of flower pots contain unique scents with a hint of citronella.

Finalist: Perma Brands Corporation (Atlanta, GA) for its Ivory Shaving Set.

Finalist: Sonoma Lavender (Santa Rosa, CA) for its Reggae Eucalyptus Heated Spa Booties and Mittens.

NATURAL/ORGANIC CATEGORY:

Winner: FarmHouse Fresh (Frisco, TX) for its Gourmet Mineral Bath Soaks. Sold for display in one-gallon glass apothecary containers with stainless steel scoops.

Finalist: CARTHUSIA (by Zanovello Consultants) (Milford, CT) for its Fiori di Capri Solid Perfume by Carthusia.

Finalist: Moon Valley Organics (Deming, WA) for its Moon Melt Lotion Bar.

PACKAGING CATEGORY:

Winner: Royal Apothic (New York, NY) for its Royal Apothic Tinties Tinted Lip Butter. Packaged in a striped drawer box with a rose gold foil. Available in 4 colors: Berry, Pink, Coral and Nude.

Finalist: The Soap & Paper Factory (Congers, NY) for its Eau de Cologne Collection.

Finalist: TOCCA (New York, NY) for its Candela Luxe Collection.

“Personal care products have always seen innovative approaches to design and packaging, and now are demonstrating an increased emphasis on the use of natural and organic elements,” said Melissa Engongoro, Personal Care + Wellness sales manager. “The winners and finalists showcased through these awards push the envelope, delivering superior products in stunning packaging.”

The NY NOW “Best of LIFESTYLE” Award will be determined through online voting at http://bit.ly/NYNOW_BNP_LIFESTYLE. Popular choice balloting through Facebook runs January 31-February 3, and the winner will be announced on February 4, before the conclusion of the winter 2015 edition of NY NOW.

The Best New Product Award judges were: Julie McCallum of GIFT SHOP; Tina Benitez-Eves of Gifts and Decorative Accessories; Megan O’Neill of Giftware News; Nancy Jeffries of Happi Magazine; Mary Bemis of Insiders Guide to Spas/Spirituality & Health; Victoria Wurdinger of Salon Today; and Kristen Wegrzyn of Skin, Inc..

Presented as part of NY NOW’s LIFESTYLE Collection, the Personal Care + Wellness category features nearly 100 companies offering offers a targeted mix of perfumes, skincare, bath & body care, beauty accessories, hair care, natural/organic products and well-being lines. The winter 2015 edition of NY NOW®, the Market for Home +Lifestyle, will run Saturday, January 31, through Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
