Fremont woman buys Kollmeyer’s Gift ShopBy FremontTribune.com

An old downtown business has a new face.

Kollmeyer’s Gift Shop within the Kollmeyer building at 414 North Main St., has been sold to Marj Scheer of Fremont.

Scheer worked part time for Kollmeyer’s manager Bill Perry beginning in late November and was later approached by Perry and his father, Bob Perry, to purchase the business.

The gift shop was originally opened as a hardware store by Carl Kollmeyer in 1929. Bob Perry of Fremont owned the business most recently, which he sold last week.

“I’m going to be 80 years old and when this opportunity presented itself I felt that Marj Sheer, as an ambitious young lady with talent, would be a welcome solution,” Bob Perry said.

“I have been fortunate to have been involved with Kollmeyer’s Hardware, Housewares and Gifts and then the Kollmeyer’s Sporting Goods, which is now Lou’s and Nebraska Sports, and Fremont Lock and Key for 61 years,” Perry noted.

The building, which has a different owner, is not being sold.

Scheer officially took over last week and is excited to hit her stride.
