Independent retailers to learn best business practices at SFIGF

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A series of six complimentary seminars presented by small business strategists at the San Francisco International Gift Fair will teach independent retailers how to target new customers and maximize sales. Addressing merchandising, marketing, sustainability and color and trend directions, the educational programs will be an essential part of the market experience, July 26-29.

“We are delighted to offer attendees a vibrant and valuable slate of programs that will keep their stores on the cutting edge of retail,” said Aubin Wilson, show manager. “Focusing on winning retail strategies and best practices will position retailers to compete in this demanding business environment.”

Small business strategist Lynn Switanowski Barrett will show independent retailers how to implement targeted marketing and branding efforts in their stores, and how to target new customer niches. A comprehensive session on all aspects of the art of merchandising will be led by seasoned retailer Rick Segel, as well as a program on differentiating a business to make it a unique destination.

Retail specialist Barbara Crowhurst will explore what colors and products are hot and how retailers can work them into their existing store settings, as well as examining the importance of green in retail today and how independent retail businesses can become leaders and advocates for the environment.

A complete list of educational programs is attached; additional information and registration is available online at www.sfigf.com/programsevents.html.
