Inside the Creative Mind of Cindy Ann Ganaden

San Francisco, CA — The world as seen by Illustrator and Licensed Artist Cindy Ann Ganaden is slightly twisted – but in a good way. Her easily recognizable work is quirky, cute with a light-hearted flair that instantly brings a smile to your face. That’s why she’s so successful. You get it. Her work is sometimes inspirational, sometimes funny, sassy, energetic and other times bold and just silly.

“I want to inspire creativity and cultivate positivity, through my work and my way of being. Making my outward style match my inner intent and feeling,” says Cindy Ann. “I love popping into an alternate universe with my work just to see what it’s like. Changing perspectives and creating entire new realities.”

In addition to the work she did as one of three art directors at Papyrus, the multi-award winning designer has worked for some impressive brands including Old Navy, Chronicle Books, Klutz, and Marian Heath Greeting Cards. Her licensed designs have been used on giftware, textiles, tabletop, greeting cards, stationery, and more recently on innovative pop-up card for Americhip. Being a mama to four year-old daughter, Ava Blu gives her a special insight into the world of a child’s imagination. In fact, working on kids’ products is one of her fortés. “I have a captive audience with my daughter and her friends and can readily “test” my designs on them. If they like it, I know it will sell,” says Cindy Ann.

Future projects of Cindy Ann’s include concepting and developing new ways for her art to be used on products and creating some new collections that will debut this spring at the Surtex show. The collections are fun, eye-catching whimsical designs called Lavender Lane, Wine Soaked Zen and Foxy Loxy. She offers a wide range of themed art for manufacturers looking to appeal to the kids’ market and female consumer. Cindy Ann loves to work closely with her clients. She believes that her unique vision and understanding of product design enables her to provide on target trends and relevant ideas for each project she works on. Having been on the product development side Cindy Ann has an edge on most illustrators. Her real-world experiences – from market research and trend analysis, to the creation, design, and final production has helped her develop her own sense of style that’s commercially viable in a world of tight budgets and overseas production.

Cindy Ann is a trend-setter. Inspiration comes from her everyday life and she is never without her sketch book and pen! She is inspired by quiet beauty, ice cream, truth & lies, eavesdropped conversation on the train, young lovely imaginations, the fast-paced imagery and barrage of pop culture, eclectic collections of “like” objects, and the simple pleasures & challenges of living a fully present life.

Look for Cindy Ann at the upcoming Surtex Show, Corner Booth # 630 in New York City this coming May. You will find her creations at many retail stores nationwide, including Target department stores.
