International Folk Art Market collection returns with global products in June
Dallas Market Center, in partnership with the International Folk Art Alliance, will serve as the exclusive host of the International Folk Art Market Collection, June 21-25, during Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, June 21-27. The International Folk Art Market Collection presents dozens of artisans from all over the world showcasing their wares and sharing their stories through their art. The exhibit will be held in the World Trade Center Atrium where buyers can peruse hand crafted jewelry, gifts, and home décor and get to know the artisans representing Uzbekistan, Ghana, Peru, and other countries.
The artisans are part of the prominent International Folk Art Alliance (IFAA), which hosts the International Folk Art Market, the largest of its kind in the world, each summer in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Prior to the event in Santa Fe, a number of artisans exhibit at Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, where they deliver handcrafted, one-of-a-kind items from a variety of categories. IFAM opens the door for artisans to foster growth and cultural stability in their communities as they learn to market their ancestral trades. In turn, this showcase offers buyers a curated collection of exciting and unique merchandise to diversify their product offerings. It gives buyers the opportunity to hear the stories behind these products direct from the source and then share with their customers.
“Our buyers seek out unique products with a story to share with their customers, and only in Dallas will they discover a compelling and beautiful collection of global artisans,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “The International Folk Art Market Collection provides such a personalized experience for our loyal buyers and allows them to see the direct impact their purchases make on the artisans’ communities.”
IFAA’s goal is to foster economic and cultural sustainability for folk artists worldwide and to create intercultural opportunities that unite the peoples of the world. The wholesale connections made in Dallas provide year-round income for the artists, creating a lasting economic impact on their communities.
The International Folk Art Alliance, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions a world that values the dignity and humanity of the handmade, honors timeless cultural traditions, and supports the work of folk artists serving as entrepreneurs and catalysts for positive social change.
