International Floral & Gift Center Renamed International Trade Plaza

Dallas, TX – Dallas Market Center, the world’s most complete wholesale marketplace, today announced that the International Floral & Gift Center, the original building on its campus, will be renamed the International Trade Plaza. The change better reflects the expanding product and projects taking place in the building including the January 2011 relocation and expansion of the Outdoor Living shared showroom.

“The renaming of the building to International Trade Plaza better communicates the wide appeal to customers,” said Cindy Morris, COO, Dallas Market Center. “From holiday, floral and gift products to garden, patio and outdoor – the new names reflects the growing range of categories that will be showcased.”

In 1957, the building was opened as the Homefurnishings Mart and was the first building on the Dallas Market Center campus. Then, in 1999 it was re-opened as the International Floral Design Center, the new home of the floral industry, and later renamed the International Floral & Gift Center. Today, the building still offers the largest marketplace for floral products; however many exhibitors have added additional home décor and gift products to their showrooms. The new name is appropriate for all exhibitors and allows for a consistency throughout the four-building campus – the World Trade Center, Trade Mart, Market Hall and now the International Trade Plaza.

The upcoming Dallas Total Home & Gift Market (January 19-25, 2011) will debut the name with a celebration during an all-market party Thursday, January 20 in the International Trade Plaza front corridor. Attendees may contact the Dallas Market Center’s in-house travel agency Market Travel®, for substantial travel and hotel discounts by calling 1-800-DAL-MKTS.
