Kathy Davis Studios Adds New Licensing Expert

Ambler, PA – Kathy Davis Studios, Inc., one of the nation’s leading design companies of greeting card, gift and lifestyle products, announced today the appointment of Vice President Melissa Schulz. Responsible for coordinating and leading the strategic direction, development and growth of Kathy Davis Studios’ licensing business, supporting its extensive collection of four brand names, Schulz boasts more than 13 years industry experience including in-depth marketplace and trend analysis, creative design and product development.

“We are poised for an expansive growth period in which Melissa’s deep industry knowledge, creativity and work ethic make her a perfect match for our team,” said President and Chief Operating Officer John Mavrakis. “Her leadership and experience will help shape and grow our licensing division as we continue our work to expand our four brand offerings in the home and lifestyle categories. We are thrilled she has chosen to join Kathy Davis Studios.”

Most recently, Schulz served as an artist agent and creative consultant with Sequel Designs & Licensing. There she represented artists including Nel Whatmore, Maggie Stewart and Susan Wheeler, among others, in successful licensing efforts with an array of product partners including C.R. Gibson, Ex-Cell Home Fashions, Morning Sun, Papyrus and Westminster Fibers.

In addition, as a freelance art director and graphic designer with Katie’s Mom, a customized creative and marketing solutions company she created, Schulz consulted with clients including professional artists and giftware companies where she delivered brand style guides, customized artwork and designer packaging, and created the Katie’s Mom branded line of custom jewelry. As Managing Art Director for InterArt/Sunrise Greetings, a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Shulz studied the card and gift industry, along with the fashion and home décor marketplace, to successfully set the company’s creative direction and tactical execution.

Schulz attended Indiana University where she studied fine art and education. She currently resides in Bloomington, In., with her husband and two daughters. A move to the Philadelphia area is planned for the near future.
