L.A. Mart’s Designer Week serves interior design community with eight days of educational, buying opportunities

The L.A. Mart Design Center, Southern California’s singular, comprehensive source for designer and custom-manufactured furniture and accessories, will hold its popular bi-annual Designer Week focused on the needs of the extensive West Coast interior design community, March 31-April 8, 2016 (closed Saturday, April 2, 2016) from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the L.A. Mart.

“The interior designers in Southern California are always looking for ways to satisfy their client’s requirements with the best service and high quality, unique merchandise,” said Frank Joens, Sr. Vice President/General Manager. “We’ve created Designer Week at the L.A. Mart Design Center to offer our vibrant, hard-working design community a wide-ranging event presenting in-depth educational seminars, a special ‘Designer Client Sunday,’ a ‘don’t miss’ Sample Sale, and an incredible networking opportunity facilitated by ASID!”

Among the exciting events set for Designer Week:

  • Special Design Center Shopping, March 31 and April 1, 2016:

Designers will have the exclusive chance to shop the extensive selection of furniture, textiles, and fine home accessories featured on the Design Center’s 1st, 10th and 12th floors.

  • Continuing Education Seminars, Floors 1, 2, 10, 12

Designers may earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) at a number of Informative sessions taught by industry professionals. The educational seminars include:

  • Living Large in Small Places taught by Stacey McCarthy of Purcell Murray (Held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 2:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Exhibit Hall)
  • Designing for Value taught by Kerry-Lee Jeffery of Pall Mall Art Advisors (Held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the12th Floor Designer’s Lounge #1220)
  • Marketing Yourself, Part II: An Even More In-Depth Look taught by Brad Haan (Held at 12:30 pm, Friday, April 1, 2016 in Palecek’s 10th Floor showroom #1048; refreshments will be served at this event)
  • Business of Design, Part II, taught by Kimberley Seldon (Held on Friday, April1, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the 2nd Floor Exhibit Hall)
  • Ultra-Compact Surfaces, taught by Mitch Sebolsky of Cosentino (Held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the 2nd Floor Exhibit Hall)
  • The Beautiful Face of Concrete: Using Precast Tile, Pavers, and Wall Veneer for Historic Restoration and Renovation (Held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 4, 2016 in the Hospitality Suite, #1038, 10th Lunch will be served at this event)
  • Architectural Glass Now: New Versatility in Decorative Glass Applications (Held at 12:30 pm, Monday, April 4, 2016, in the Hospitality Suite #1038, 10th Lunch will be served at this event.)
  • Houzz University: How to Use Houzz to Build Your Business (Held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in 12th Floor Designer’s Lounge #1220)
  • LeFroy Brooks presents: Plumbing Secrets and Solutions for the Savvy Interior Designer (Held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in the Hospitality Suite #1038)
  • The Well-Covered Wall: Features and Benefits of Wall Coverings and Trends (Held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Envision showroom #1200)
  • Designer/Client Sunday, April 3, 2016

A day especially reserved for designers and their clients to discover the

resources that will be offered in the L.A. Mart’s Design Center. Those attending will be greeted with complimentary morning mimosas.

  • The Phillips Collection Reception: 

To get Designer Week off to a great start, Bassman-Blaine will hold a reception welcoming Jason Phillips and the award-winning Phillips Collection, a prestigious new line in the L.A. Mart Design Center (Held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Bassman-Blaine showroom #1005, 10th Floor)

  • Sample Sale

Great deals await designers throughout Designer Week! Attendees can save 40-70% on top-quality decorative accessories, as well as exceptional art, area rugs, lighting, indoor/outdoor bedding, upholstery and more at the Design Center’s expansive Sample Sale!

In addition to all of the events taking place during Designer Week, the L.A. Mart is also proud to present the Los Angeles Build Design Expo (LABDE), running concurrently with the design market. Facilitated by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the LABD Expo offers a unique pop-up experience that combines accredited workshops in conjunction with exhibits and networking opportunities. “By creating a community of forward-thinking, progressive, modern-day businesses with design-centered values, the Los Angeles Build Design Expo brings to the design industry a one-of-a-kind chance for the exchange of ideas,” said Joens.
