Las Vegas Market announces new trends

Las Vegas Market announced that its signature FIRST LOOK trend presentation and curated display will showcase four trending themes – Forest Splendor, How Novelties, In Black & White and New Heights – featuring new and innovative merchandise from more than 110 exhibitors at the Summer 2016 Las Vegas Market, running July 31-August 4.  As an industry-leading thought leader, Las Vegas Market also will present another eight trend tours and talks addressing all that’s new – and next – in color, design and consumer preferences, and the Market’s popular “View on Vegas” Instagram take-over will offer top product picks from 25 leading taste-makers and style-setters.

“One of the most valuable aspects of attending market is learning what products are trending and what is going to sell through retail and designers in the coming season – something you cannot get from your store or office at home,” said Karen Olson, senior vice president of marketing for International Market Centers. “Each market, we tap industry experts and tastemakers to curate the latest products that align with upcoming industry trends, and retailers and designers have come to rely on programs like FIRST LOOK to anticipate demand of their customers and clients. This content creates a much more informed buying experience for our market attendees.”

The exclusive FIRST LOOK program at Las Vegas Market highlights the latest trends – from furniture to home décor to gift and more – with four fashion-forward themes geared to both retailers and designers. FIRST LOOK also includes a selection of eye-catching product displays highlighting new merchandise from Summer Market in the Atrium of Building B, and a companion FIRST LOOK publication detailing the trends also is distributed at all Market registration areas. The FIRST LOOK program can be accessed online.

The four key trends identified for the Summer 2016 FIRST LOOK:
Forest Splendor showcases verdant greens, rich browns, lavish reds, vibrant pinks and gold finishes, similar to a forest understory teeming with color. Featured products include bedroom furniture, especially pieces made from sustainably harvested or reclaimed wood; bedding textiles; area rugs; wall decor; upholstered chairs; lamps, candles; permanent botanicals, and vases.
How Novelties highlights whimsical and cheerful novelty prints, animal motifs and fanciful landscapes featured upholstered chairs; accent tables; stationery and cards; shag area rugs; lighting; dinnerware; glassware; housewares, and gifts.

In Black & White, a category that speaks for itself, offers a welcome contrast to several previous seasons of tone-on-tone neutrals and shades-of-gray interiors. Featured products include sofas, accent tables, wall decor, lamps, area rugs as well as an assortment of accessories representing virtually every category of merchandise at Summer Market.
New Heights spotlighting Las Vegas Market’s rapid growth in the casual and outdoor furnishings segment. In just two years, Las Vegas Market has become a preferred shopping destination for casual furnishings, and the display celebrates this with a backyard bash featuring all things for outdoor entertaining.

Along with the best new-to-Market products, FIRST LOOK curator and 20-year magazine editor Julie Smith Vincenti serves up design insights and trends from a host of industry tastemakers during a related at-Market seminar scheduled for Monday, August 1, from 10-11 a.m. in Building B, WorldView on Sixteen; a simultaneous translation from English to Spanish will be offered during the presentation.  Another eight trend-focused programs – comprised of both consumer editor trend tours and talks as well as sessions addressing consumer preferences and color forecasts – will be presented during Las Vegas Market.  Highlights include a series of “Ahead of the Curve” Market tours with leading home fashions editors. Sessions take place: Sunday, July 312:30-3:30 p.m., led by Brielle Ferreira, LUXE Interiors + DesignSunday, July 314:00-5:00pm, led by Irene Edwards, Sunset MagazineMonday, August 12:30-3:30 p.m., led by Victoria de la Camara, RUE MagazineMonday, August 14-5 p.m., led by Michela O’Connor Abrams, Dwell Media.  Ahead of the Curve culminates on Tuesday, August 2, from 10:00-11:30am, when all four editors gather for an exclusive trend overview session in Building B, WorldView on Sixteen.

A pair of seminars by Deb Barrett of Soft Design Lab will predict home trends and key factors influencing these directions. “Design Destinations 2.0: Where Home is Headed Next” will be held on Sunday, July 312-3 p.m.; and “Designing the Future What Millennials Want” on Wednesday, August 310:30-11:30 a.m., both in Building C, Surya Seminar Room C174.  And, Sherwin-Williams Colormix 2017 Color Forecast, by director of color marketing Susan Wadden, will offer directional color predictions on Monday, August 1, 1–2 p.m., in Building B, WorldView on Sixteen.
