Las Vegas Market spotlights casual, outdoor category

Las Vegas Market announced that more than 180 resources providing casual and outdoor furniture, garden and outdoor accessories will be presented at the Summer 2017 Las Vegas Market, July 30-August 3, 2017. In addition to product resources, two educational sessions – addressing category trends and materials – will be presented by Casual Living at the Summer Market.

“Las Vegas Market is responding to consumer demand for outdoor living and dining products by offering more casual and outdoor resources than ever before,” said Scott Eckman, president of Furniture and Home Décor Leasing/ Chief Strategy Officer, International Market Centers (IMC). “In recognition of the growing importance of this category for our audience, we are extending our offerings to include category information and education, through a new partnership with Casual Living.”

Following Las Vegas Market’s 2015 launch of C12 and C13, two floors dedicated to everything trending in the casual and outdoor furnishings category – from furniture to umbrellas to rugs to outdoor fireplaces and more – the category has continued to expand and some 30 showrooms plus temporary exhibits will be concentrated in 250,000-square-feet on these floors this summer.  Notable permanent showrooms on C12 and C13 include Agio, America’s Backyards & Outdoor Living, Ebel, O.W. Lee, Poly-Wood, Skyline Designs, Summer Classics and Telescope Casual.  Notable temporary exhibitors on C13 include Bestsign International Inc., Casual Cushion Corp., Gardenart Furniture, Lagoon, Meadow Décor Inc., Mountain House Furniture, Pride Casual, Somers Furniture, Summerset Casual and TK Classics.

Another 120+ outdoor, casual and seasonal resources also can be found across the Las Vegas Market campus, including the debut of Seaside Casual (traditional outdoor furniture handcrafted from modern materials) in a 1,600-square-foot space on C4.  Other notable outdoor resources outside of C12 and C13 include Ashley Furniture Inds., Couristan, Crosley Brands, Ivena International, Kannoa, Klaussner Outdoor, Seasonal Living, Tommy Bahama, Veneman Collections, ZUO and more.

To support the growth in the casual/outdoor category, Las Vegas Market has forged a new programming partnership with Casual Living magazine to offer two educational seminars at Summer Market. Space for the sessions is limited, and RSVPs are required.  Pre-register at www.lasvegasmarket.com/events.

On Sunday, July 30, “Trends of 2017,” will recap the best of 2017, with predictions on growth and trend areas for the remainder of the year.  The session, which runs 11am – 12 noon, will be presented by Jennifer Bringle, Features Editor of Casual Living. The seminar is sponsored by South Sea Rattan and will be held in its showroom, C1296, and followed by a lunch for attendees.

On Monday, July 31, “Casual Living Master Class: Performance Materials” will explore performance materials and new technologies that allow casual furnishing to stand up to the rigors of Mother Nature. The Master Class presentation will explore four key categories: plastics (marine grade polymer and recycled plastic lumber), wicker (synthetic versus natural), alternative woods (beyond teak) and aluminum (cast, extruded and tubular).  The session, which runs 3:30pm – 4:30pm, will be led by Waynette Goodson, Editor in chief of Casual Living. The presentation is sponsored by Ebel and will be held in its showroom, C1389, and followed by cocktails for attendees.

A new hospitality lounge will be available in C1340 for casual/outdoor furniture buyers. Club Casual will feature daily breakfast and lunch, comfortable seating, refreshing smoothies and beverages, music, wi-fi, televisions and massage stations. An industry networking event will take place in the lounge Sunday evening, July 305:00-7:00pm.
