More than greeting cards at Leanin’ TreeBy Dena OlsonExaminer.com

Want to spend an enjoyable afternoon browsing great western history and art? The Leanin’ Tree Museum of Western Art in Boulder, CO exhibits over 300 original paintings and bronze sculptures from the private collection of Edward P. Trumble, chairman and founder of Leanin’ Tree. And it is free!

Leanin’ Tree was started in 1949 with 4 greeting cards which have grown to over 3000 greeting cards along with many thoughtful, cute and humorous gift ideas available in their gift shop.

One of their corporate goals states they are in the ‘happiness business, producing products that are positive, uplifting, and life-enhancing’. I like that! Today, we need more experiences in the ‘happiness business’. These folks are ‘green’ and use recycled materials with Mother Earth in mind while producing their products. I like that, too!!

Allow plenty of time as browsing through the many greeting cards in the gift shop will have you smiling and laughing out loud, but save a chunk of time for the art gallery upstairs, which must not be rushed. Many of the large paintings are so realistic; one can almost smell the mountain air of the forest or the dust from the horse and cowboy rider. The wildlife bronzes and historical sculptures in the courtyard deserve thoughtful study… exquisite quality!
