Legend lives on at Outpost
Those who call Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach home know the story of the great American Indian, Geronimo, and how he was incarcerated along at Fort Pickens for a time.
Thanks to a Pensacola Beach gift shop, Geronimo’s name lives on. For the past two years, locals have discovered the treasures at Geronimo’s Outpost along Pensacola Beach. The large showroom is part art gallery, part apparel boutique and part knick knack store.
Geronimo’s Outpost is the idea of owner Angelika Unzens, a native of Germany, who has an eye for good art.
“The idea was to have a store where each unit has its own style, and we wanted to go almost exclusively with local artists, or items made in the United States,” she said.
The enormous shop is dotted with “outposts” bursting with the hues of different themes. The outposts are small kiosks brimming with a variety of gifts for anyone. There’s the Blue Angel’s outpost, tropical outpost, Hawaiian outpost, Pensacola Pelicans in Paradise outpost and outposts dedicated to a singular artist, almost exclusively artisans who call Pensacola and Gulf Breeze home.
