Mayor, Merchants Promote Shop the Blocks and Small Business SaturdayBy JournalStar.com

Lincoln, NE – Mayor Chris Beutler, retailers and advocates encouraged shoppers to support locally owned businesses over the holidays, especially at two coming promotions:

• The Shop the Blocks Holiday Celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, produced by the Downtown Lincoln Association.

• The third annual “Small Business Saturday” on Nov. 24, a national promotion by American Express.

The mayor was joined by representatives of the DLA, the Nebraska Retail Federation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lincoln Independent Business Association and local retailers at a news conference at Dietze Music, which opened its downtown store in 1927.
