Michigan Retailers Promote ‘Buy Nearby’ with 1st ‘Get Caught Blue-Handed’ Day
Grand Rapids, MI – Jeff Joyce and thousands of other retailers across the state hope to launch a new tradition today, Oct. 5.
The first “Get Caught Blue-Handed” day was to show people that when they choose to “buy nearby” instead from out-of-state online sites they are helping the state economy.
“We are encouraging people to buy locally and start with their own communities,” said Joyce, who is co-owner and the fourth-generation to operate the family-owned Mieras Shoes, which will celebrate its 91st anniversary in Grand Rapids next week.
