Momentum Builds for Winter 2014 NY NOW Debut

Robust attendee registration and an influx of new exhibitor confirmations reflect increasing momentum for the winter 2014 debut of NY NOW™, the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formely NYIGF®), February 1-6, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.

“We are experiencing huge registration gains this winter, as a result of both pro-active retailer outreach and online registration system improvements,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “To date, we have registered more than 15,000 attendees for the winter 2014 market, which is more than double the number of buyers registered for market at this time last year.”

According to Falkenberg, this exponential increase is tied to early and enthusiastic retailer commitments to attend the February 2014 Market, along with a streamlined online registration process.

Registering retailers have cited NY NOW’s new, easier-to-shop layout and overall benefits of New York City as a market destination as motivators for winter Market attendance. “NY NOW is a unique opportunity to meet many of the owners, creators and artists of companies we don’t see at other markets,” said Quinn Stinson, owner of duh for garden and home in Pensacola, FL. “The lines are easy to see and offer intriguing merchandising ideas. It is by far our favorite, and we will not miss the opportunity to shop NY NOW.”

Jack Lochhead, principal and managing director of Toronto, Ontario-based Bentley Flanders, added, “NY NOW is not to be missed. It allows the sophisticated buyer to find not only an array of fantastic accessories, but also some great treasures that set you apart from other retailers. NY NOW is well organized and accessible, and it’s our only go-to show twice a year.”

NY NOW also is on target once again to welcome hundreds of new exhibitors to the market in February. “While the critical mass of 250+ newcomers will be located at Pier 94 within the NEW! Collection, there will be scores of other first-time participants throughout NY NOW’s HOME, LIFESTYLE and HANDMADE Collections,” said Falkenberg. A complete listing of NY NOW’s 2,000+ currently confirmed exhibitors is available online at www.search.nynow.com.

Notable new and returning companies for February 2014 include Block and Brayer, City Bazaar, Fatboy, Fort Standard, Leibal, Lisa Seago Fine Art, PTMD, Souda and Tom Dixon within HOME; Acca Kappa, Calison Inc., Hex, Natasha Grasso and Seedling in LIFESTYLE; and BILLYKIRK, Dominik Woods, ESCLUSSO Ltd., Kinaloon, Nativa LLC, Sarah Richardson Jewelry and Vermont Butcher Block & Board in HANDMADE.

The winter 2014 edition of NY NOW, the Market for Home + Lifestyle, will run Saturday, February 1, through Thursday, February 6, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories. Some 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nynow.com.
