Dalton, KY – Located on the corner of Government and Dalton Road outside Providence, Ky., lies a 90-year-old general store that is now known as Poppy & Clover.

“The name came from my grandfather, my mom’s dad, that we called Poppy,” said owner Riley Jo Dever. “We use to sit in his yard for hours and hunt for clovers, it was something we did together, and then we would store the clovers in old books. So, that’s how we got the name ‘Poppy & Clover’.”

Originally named Taylor’s General Store, was built by Homer Felker in 1923 and ran by Peral Menser for the first 19 years, but eventually closed in the 1970s.
