Gift shop is fruit of womanBy Jo Garcia-CobbEastValleyNews.com

Gift-giving is a way of life for Suzie Couraud, owner of Silverton’s new gift shop, Pomegranate.

On one wall of a small corridor close to the store’s front door hangs three floral oil paintings that are not for sale.

“My mother, Marian Dike, painted them. She passed away less then a year ago. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known,” Couraud said with a deep sense of gratitude. “She’s here with me. This store would not be happening without her.”

Couraud’s dream to open her own store was made possible by the money her mother left her with.

“I wanted to own a community store where people can get special gift items they can’t find anywhere else. Gifts that are made with much love and thought,” she said.

Couraud also wanted to make gift-giving simple by offering a complimentary signature wrap.

“It’s a beautiful thing to be in a business that makes people happy by selling them wonderful things,” she said.

Pomegranate quietly opened the first Friday of November on First Street.
