Clothes, toys, gifts for everyoneBy Jocelyn TillerTellurideNews.com

There’s a new store in town, and this one for a smaller set. The owner of Scarpe, the upscale women’s clothing store located on the corner of Willow and Pacific, has opened Next Door, a store that sells baby supplies, among other things.

Jenny DiFiore, the owner of both stores and a mother of 8 month-old Will, says she initially opened the store with a focus on baby items.

“Initially it was really easy for me to order baby stuff because I just had a baby so I knew the best of everything. But I have a lot of lotions and potions, that kind of thing, so that people that don’t have kids will come in here.”

Next Door offers infant clothes by brands like Angel Dear, Amber Hagen, Speesees, and Alittleark.com, ranging in price from $38-$78. Many of the items are made from natural materials, such as bamboo and organic cotton. There are onesies, T-shirts, dresses and shoes.

Being environmentally conscious is an important aspect of the store.

“Everything is completely environmental, recyclable and reusable where possible, organic where possible. It’s fun working with eco-conscious companies,” DiFiore says.

There are lots of great gift items for babies and kids, like Finger Puppet books for $6.96 and organic fruit lollipops for a quarter a pop. There are gifts for moms too, like Ambre Blend natural fragrances from $40-$60, and picture frames that were handmade in Telluride by Momo Designs.

“I’m trying to keep reasonable prices,” DiFiore says.

The store also provides some of the essentials for new mothers, like booster seats and baby carriers. There are Pregnancy Instruction Manuals for mothers and fathers to be, for $15.95.

DiFiore is excited about further developing her store. “A lot of what I’m excited about is providing stuff that the town was missing. As far as gear for babies, really fun art for kids’ rooms, that kind of thing. There’s toys for older kids but I’m going to have more and more fun gift stuff for everybody. But also great picture frames and organic chocolates, really fun home stuff, that kind of thing.”
