Area business dresses for success
Want Cinderella or Snow White as guests for your child’s party? It’s possible with themed parties for children, such as those offered by Next Generation Children’s Store in Brighton.
The boutique clothing and gift store at 209 W. Main St. that caters to children from infants through teens has expanded on the success that started with Webkinz parties.
Now, customers can also schedule a Princess Tea, Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Tinker Bell, Glamour Girl or Furry Friends party.
“We started out with Webkinz parties,” said sales associate Sandi Denhoff. “It was such a great business that people asked if we were doing anything for birthdays. They wanted other kinds of parties, so we thought we would give it a whirl.”
Denhoff said that store owner, Lynne Karty, learned of Fantasy Tea Parties, a Livingston County business that offers home-based themed parties, and decided to partner with them to offer parties for parents who didn’t have space or the time to coordinate a party. The store has a vacant room dedicated for party use. Next Generation Children’s Store handles the booking and billing for each event, and Fantasy Tea Parties takes care of the rest.
The Princess Tea Party, for example, features dress-up costumes, tea-time place settings, craft time and a keepsake make-up kit. The Glamour Girl Party is designed for older girls, and includes stations for nail polish, make-up and hair fashions. Furry Friends Party includes an 18-inch animal to hand-stuff and a birth certificate for the animal.
