NYIGF Registrants Identify “Made in the USA” as Key Category for 2012

Reflecting the increasing demand for American-made products, nearly 25% of registrants for the winter 2012 New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®) have expressed a specific interest in “Made in the USA” products. The NYIGF runs January 28-February 2, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

“More than 400 of NYIGF’s 2,800+ exhibitors identify themselves as producers of ‘Made in the USA’ products,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “NYIGF presents an ideal sourcing opportunity for retailers seeking American-made products across the gift, home and lifestyle spectrum.

Buyers seeking U.S.-produced merchandise can utilize two online tools to source NYIGF exhibitors featuring “Made in the USA” products: the Search NYIGF.com tool on the NYIGF.com website, and the free NYIGF Wayfinder app for mobile devices. Search results can be sorted by product category, NYIGF division and/or NYIGF venue. Searches can be saved and updated in real time, created into a walking list, displayed on a floor plan and accessed via mobile devices. Key among these are: Blackthorne Forge (Marshfield, VT); Gustav Reyes (Chicago, IL); Hudson Beach Glass Inc. (Poughquag, NY); Sticks® (Des Moines, IA); Ugone & Thomas (Easthampton, MA); and Vinylux / Resource Revival (Philadelphia, PA).

Across NYIGF’s ten divisions, there also are 65 first-time exhibitors that will be showcasing “Made in the USA” products. The largest concentration of these newcomers is presented within New York’s Newest, a showcase of cross-category exhibitors new to the NYIGF, with nearly 10 percent of the division’s 250 exhibitors offering American-made items at the Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 92. These newcomers to NYIGF include: All-ett Billfolds ( Pinon Hills, CA ); are you? (Robbinsville, NJ); BabiLayers (South San Francisco, CA); Beads by Bettina (Reisterstown, MD); CaddyWrap Products (New York, NY); Caroline Kramer (Oakland, CA); Chaya Studio LLC (Portland, ME); Christina Stankard (Brooklyn, NY); Foamy Wader (Seattle, WA); Margo Morrison New York (New York, NY); Notice the Divine (Santa Fe, NM); Olivia’s Journee (Manchester, ME); Precila G (Tarzana, CA); Rose Gilley Designs (Sacramento, CA); Signature DNA (Lees Summit, MO); Smucci Too!
