PAPER PUNK to Bring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants to the Paper Construction/Craft Toy Category
PAPER PUNK™, maker of paper-based construction toys that enhance creative thinking, has inked a licensing deal to develop paper-based construction/craft kits inspired by two of Nickelodeon’s hit animated properties, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants. The PAPER PUNK Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kits will be released in early February 2014, with PAPER PUNK SpongeBob SquarePants following mid-year.
“We know from a study I’m conducting at Stanford that people can learn to become more creative through hands-on building and making activities,” said PAPER PUNK Founder/CEO Grace Hawthorne, a Stanford professor and mom. “When Nickelodeon invited us to make PAPER PUNK versions of their leading properties, we were very excited to offer new audiences a fun antidote to today’s over-saturated digital environment. PAPER PUNK is a play experience and learning tool in one self-contained package.”
PAPER PUNK Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kits ($9.95) will feature all four heroes in a half-shell — Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. Each character will have its own all-inclusive kit containing 16 punch-n-fold shapes, more than 30 stickers, and 40 adhesive dots to construct a 9” x 3” x 5” 3D paper figure. These kits will be unveiled at the PAPER PUNK booth #2164-F at the American International Toy Fair in New York City, February 16-19, 2014.
PAPER PUNK SpongeBob SquarePants kits will feature Bikini Bottom buds, SpongeBob and Patrick. Each kit ($14.95) will also be all-inclusive, containing 8-16 punch-n-fold shapes, more than 120 stickers, and 40 adhesive dots to construct paper figures standing 7.5” x 7” x 3”.
