The Pink Door reopens in Milford
If you haven’t visited The Pink Door in downtown Milford lately — or ever — consider stopping in and seeing the changes the place now has to offer.
After closing up shop for a few weeks recently, The Pink Door has reopened with an expanded selection of merchandise.
Along with the Tokens line of embroidered linens and baby items, Pink Door clothing for women, Sirvivor golf shirts for men and more, the shop has added new product lines including Molly Coddle Tiles, Nesti Dante Italian soaps, Thymes bath products and other popular items that were available at the now-closed Village Peddler in Milford.
“We’re really trying to make this more of a gift shop. Everyone has to buy a gift sooner or later — and it all benefits The Pink Door,” said Margaret Hendrickson, Pink Door volunteer and assistant to CEO Julie Durham.
A percentage of all sales is used to support the mission of The Pink Door, a nonprofit organization that pays for mammography for the uninsured and underinsured.
“This is for people who are slipping through the cracks,” Durham said.
Sharon Mertz, who owned the Village Peddler before it closed earlier this spring, is offering some of her hard-to-find merchandise at The Pink Door — and 50 percent of her profits.
“I see The Pink Door as a very worthy cause,” said Mertz. “And I really believe that in life, what you give is what you get in return.”
Another new addition to The Pink Door’s merchandise, Mystique Jewelry, will debut next Thursday during a special event at the shop, “Summer Solstice,” from 6 to 9 p.m.
Refreshments, courtesy of Colasanti’s Market, will be served, along with wine. On hand will be a representative from Flagstar Bank in Milford, who will offer a $50 donation to The Pink Door to anyone who opens up a new account.
The Pink Door is at 239 North Main Street, just south of Liberty Street in Milford.
