PMI/Ne’Qwa Art Announce Fall Retailer Artist Events
The remarkable centuries-old tradition of painting scenes and images inside glass ornaments will be demonstrated for consumers during a series of in-store events hosted by retailers coast-to-coast. Ne’Qwa artist Trieste will intricately paint in reverse, demonstrating the ancient Asian technique known as Ne’Qwa.
Each year, Trieste shares her artistic talents with Ne’Qwa enthusiasts as she travels to gift retailers across the country. The annual Fall schedule includes more than 30 stops, and will include drawings for Ne’Qwa product, door prizes, an exclusive Event Ornament that will only be available to consumers attending on that day, and other activities that vary by retailer.
The event ornament – a 3-inch Petite Princess shape – was designed by Trieste especially for the 2012 tour. The hand-blown glass ornament portrays a whimsical snowman with a carrot nose and is titled Winter Joy. It has a suggested retail price of $31.25, and comes luxuriously packaged in a satin-lined velour case.
Trieste has been the lead artist for Ne’Qwa for almost a decade. Always attracted to art, Trieste was inspired by her mother, who was not only an art journalist for a newspaper, but she exposed Trieste to different art forms and exhibits from the time she was very young. Joining Ne’Qwa in 2003, Trieste was intrigued with the idea of reverse painting inside blown glass. The company’s Master Artist from Asia would give her lessons whenever he visited the Ne’Qwa offices, and with practiced discipline, Trieste mastered the intricate art.
In addition to her annual store event tour, Trieste demonstrates reverse painting during major gift trade shows. It is not unusual for the artist to be surrounded by enthusiastic retailers vying for the opportunity to bring Trieste to their stores.
