Positive Impact: Littick Works In Hospitality Shop For 58 Years
ZANESVILLE — Dorbie Littick might not be the oldest volunteer at Bethesda Hospital, but the 81-year-old thinks she’s probably been there the longest.
Littick started volunteering for the Genesis HealthCare Foundation in 1953. Originally from Cincinnati, she moved to Zanesville in 1952 after marrying Bill Littick, and she said she also married into hospital volunteering.
“This was one of their favorite projects, so they always volunteered here” she said of Bill’s family.
Littick started out as a volunteer for the Bethesda Guild auxiliary group. One of the group’s projects was the gift shop that now sits in Bethesda’s lobby, she said. And since the shop opened in September 1953, Littick has been volunteering there.
