Rochfort Bridge: Around the World
If you’re looking for something fun to do with your family that is affordable and not far from home, you might consider a trip to Rochfort Bridge.
Just left off Highway 43 about 40 minutes from Whitecourt, the Rochfort Bridge Trading Post is a great place to learn about the history of the area, have a bite to eat and relax in the sun.
The new owners of Rochfort Bridge trading post, Andy and Michelle Sierens from Whitecourt bought the trading post in November. In this short time they have renovated the gift shop, built a children’s play area outside and brought in ice cream and cappuccino machines.
Inside the post, one can find a unique gift shop with drawings from local artists such as Tina Lind from Cherhill, Alta., a variety of dream catchers, clothing and books, some also written by local authors.
“We call our gift shop a unique gift shop because there’s a lot of stuff here you can’t find anywhere else,” said Michelle. “We’ve had a lot of compliments on our product. We try to focus on quality.”
The Trading Post is more than a unique gift shop. Inside, just past the shelves of products is a warm and comfortable restaurant, decorated with old artifacts and pictures that tell the story of Rochfort Bridge.
The menu features everything from nachos, shrimp, gourmet coffee and alcoholic beveragesto homemade pie, pasta, steak and ribs. All the tasty dishes are served with a side of good service.
“We came out with a brand new menu,” said Michelle, adding many hungry souls from surrounding areas make frequent trips out to the Trading Post to eat.
