San Francisco’s Unique Style to set tone for Summer Gift Fair

White Plains, NY – San Francisco’s distinctive style – and eco-conscious, wine-savvy, museum-rich and design-driven culture – will pervade the summer edition of the San Francisco International Gift Fair, July 26-29, 2008, at the Moscone Center. As a leading destination, the city’s diverse lifestyles, intriguing neighborhoods and artistic ambiance create an ideal backdrop for the eclectic range of offerings presented by 1,200 companies, at the summer market.

“San Francisco’s dynamic personality and trend-setting culture infuses the Gift Fair with energy, newness and a vibrant edge that keeps us ahead of the curve and on top of retail and product directions,” said Aubin Wilson, show manager. “San Francisco is on the cusp of very real, tangible trends and that is directly reflected at this market.”

In line with retail demand, green products, wine accessories, museum gifts and design-forward resources will be given prominence at the Fair, with each category spotlighted in individual displays, complimentary resource lists for focused buyers and related programming. For the first time, the Gift Fair also will produce a display of products being introduced by companies new to the Fair.

In July, the Gift Fair will host an ‘Only in San Francisco’ event during market – a fun Saturday night at the ballpark, in the city’s state-of-the-art AT&T Park, situated on the Bay with breathtaking views. Tickets, priced at $35, will include transportation to the park, seats for the San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game, food/merchandise vouchers and a raffle for Giants’ gear.

On Tuesday evening of the Fair, an opportunity to sample one of San Francisco’s cutting-edge culinary experiences will be on tap at a Gift Fair-sponsored dinner at Jack Falstaff, located in San Francisco’s trendy SOMA district, and within walking distance of Moscone. Jack Falstaff – part of the city’s renowned PlumpJack Group – offers casually elegant Modern American cuisine accompanied by an extensive wine list. The cost for this special “Night Out in San Francisco” event will be $50.

The Gift Fair will also present a number of business-building seminars presented by industry experts to enhance the market experience for 16,000 buyers. A complete list of programs and events, and registration will be available online at www.sfigf.com, after May 19, 2008.

“The summer market will be the first edition of the SFIGF under the sole management of GLM, a dmg world media business,” said Aubin Wilson, show manager. “We look forward to putting GLM’s vast experience, expertise and resources into building on the strengths and unique features of the Fair, and continuing to bring it to new levels.”

International participation at the summer edition of the Fair will include resources presented by the British Design Group, and a broad range of global offerings found in the Village Arts division. In addition, companies from around the globe will be located throughout the Fair.

Committed to providing a positive environment for doing business, the Fair will continue to serve retailers with the Cable Car Lounge, showfloor amenities and an Internet Cafe, providing complimentary Internet service to Gift Fair participants. In addition, a VIP Buyer Program will be introduced, with premium buyer outreach programs and initiatives for key retailers.

The next edition of the SFIGF will run July 26-29, 2008, at The Moscone Center. The Fair will feature some 1,200 exhibitors in 17 divisions, including Accent on Design, At Home, Cash & Carry, Details, Distinctive Lines, FoodFocus, GardenStyle, General Gift, Handmade, The Jewelry Vaultsm, Just KidStuff, The Museum Source, Personal Accessories, PetStyle, Stationery & Trend, Village Arts and The Vintage Collection.

The SFIGF is managed and produced by GLM, a dmg world media business, in cooperation with Gift at 888 Brannan (formerly The Giftcenter & Jewelrymart).
