SF Int’l Gift Fair Announces Seminars and Plans for Summer

San Francisco, CA: Generations of people have left their heart here. This summer, however, lucky attendees to the San Francisco International Gift Fair® (www.sfigf.com), August 8—11 at the Moscone Convention Center, will leave with an education and just possibly an online video to share with the blogosphere.

“Like other industries, the gift industry is increasingly competitive,” said Aubin Wilson, show director, San Francisco International Gift Fair. “An important part of our job is to give exhibitors and attendees alike free access to tools and resources needed to survive and to thrive in the global marketplace.”

On August 8 SFIGF attendees and exhibitors can partake in Lynn Switanowski-Barrett’s intro to all things social-networking — Are You Blogging, Facebooking, Twittering and Flikring Your Way to NewCustomers? – and Patricia Norins’ Innovative Strategies for Increasing Your Store’s Profitability in 2009 and Beyond. On Sunday, August 9, Barrett offers her second session — Social Networking 201: Yapping on Yelp, Blabbing on Blogs, Finding Fanson Facebook for Your Business … Now What? — and on Monday, August 10, David Defries of Webhelper.com offers practical hands-one advice with his Website Development 101 – It is easier than you think!

A new feature of this show’s show will be “Studio SFIGF” – an on-floor video and media studio which will allow show attendees to videotape and upload their own videos to the Internet and to get one-on-one promotional and marketing advice from marketing and PR professionals.

“This is a place for people to stop by for free, practical advice about promotions, media, marketing and technology — from web design to setting up one’s own Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts,” said Wilson. “Additionally, this will be the place where accredited media and journalists will gather to pick up press kits and news releases provided by our exhibitors. This, new central meeting place will make it easier for our clients to interact with the media covering the show.”

After Show close, market -goers will enjoy special events including a “Sip and Shop” opening night reception at the acclaimed Museum of Craft and Folk Art in the Yerba Buena Gardens cultural district atop Moscone Center on Saturday, August 8 and a “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” evening at AT&T Park on Monday, August 10. For additional details on how to secure tickets for the game, which sees the San Francisco Giants face off against the LA Dodgers, call (213) 430-2310.

The SFIGF® attracts some 11,000 retailers ranging from small specialty stores and boutiques to big box retailers including Pottery Barn and Cost Plus World Market; from museum stores to wineries and much more. The Show features more than 600 exhibitors who represent more than 3,000 lines. This Summer, the SFIGF will run concurrently with and adjacent to The Gourmet Housewares Show® – www.thegourmetshow.com which attracts some 300+ exhibitors and 4,000 attendees.

The Summer 2009 San Francisco International Gift Fair® will take place August 8 — 11 at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center.
