Fort Myers, FL – Operating out of 120 square feet behind a florist on Cleveland Avenue near downtown Fort Myers, He, she & me was a pipe dream started by two teachers in 2006. The name of the little store, which originally sold a clothing line for women, was a statement of the two owners’ faith. “He” represented God and “She and Me” were the founders, Melody Hull and Molly Veres.

The idea to begin introducing Fair Trade merchandise at the store first came to Melody after her husband, Victor, a writer for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, went on a mission trip to Kenya. He returned with a variety of beautiful beads made by the local Maasai Tribe. The tribe made the beads and sold them in the local marketplace, using the proceeds to help AIDS patients.

Intrigued, Melody began an extensive exploration into Fair Trade merchandising.
