Enter Twisted Sisters Gift and Home Boutique on East 71st Street and you’re greeted by three adorable poodles and their owners.

With the shop’s lime green and coral walls, delicious scents wafting throughout and happy-go-lucky feel, Twisted Sisters would be a perfect fit for Sanibel Island, Fla. But it’s also a welcome spot in the Binford Corridor.

Linda Morgan and Teresa Fahrbach aren’t exactly sure why they opened Twisted Sisters about a year ago. But they did have a theme and a color scheme, said Morgan.

They also knew what they wanted to sell when they chose their location in a former Taco Bell.

“This area was screaming for a gift shop,” said Fahrbach.

And a gift shop it got — the store is like an art fair in a box, with an emphasis on local and American-made products. Their stock is about 40 percent locally made; 80 percent is American-made.
