‘Small Business Saturday’ Encourages South Jersey Residents to Shop Local
South Jersey, NJ – Small businesses around the southern New Jersey region were spurring some early holiday shopping, as several participated in Small Business Saturday this weekend.
Now in its third year, the event was originally conceived by American Express as a day in contrast to Black Friday, which is typically reserved for larger retailers and big box stores.
Since 2010, businesses have managed to spread word of the day throughout the country through social media, offering one-day deals for shoppers who support their local stores rather than the Walmarts and Best Buys of the world.
