Smithsonian Renwick Gallery Store adds MIXT Studio to Their Collection of Carefully Curated Gifts

MIXT Studio’s eco-friendly paper and gift goods will be joining the beautiful collection of handmade items from local and national artists at the Renwick Gallery Store. The Renwick Gallery opened in 1972 as the home of the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s craft and decorative art program. The Gallery highlights the best craft objects and decorative arts from the 19th century to the present.

Store buyers selected MIXT Studio’s bestselling, and recently patented, Reusable Wine Bag with a Traveling Tag. These uniquely printed fabric-like bags have a write-on traveling tag that includes space for five giving opportunities — enabling each recipient to see who has had the bag prior. Also included were MIXT Studio’s own one-of-a-kind Gift Bands and beautifully patterned newsprint giftwrap packaged as Gifting Sets.

About MIXT Studio
The Hermosa Beach company was founded in 2012 by award-winning graphic designer, Marcie Carson, who was looking to reinvent herself after almost 20 years as Creative Director for her firm, IE Design + Communications. Marcie wanted to create “an eco-friendly line of paper and gift goods that focused on lifestyle as much as it did artistry.” Marcie and her team of designers decided to produce all of their goods in the United States on recycled newsprint and remnant paper stock that they save from the ill-fated trashcan. They also started working closely with printers to print items together in an effort to eliminate waste. This method of production created in an aesthetic that is a mash-up of textures, colors and, ultimately, patterns. As a result, Marcie chose the name MIXT Studio.

Look for more from MIXT Studio — the creative team continues to add fresh thinking and inspired designs to the line. As Marcie said, “Our story is just beginning to unfold… “
