STARS come out at the Winter 2009 Edition of California Gift Show

(Los Angeles, Calif.) — Why reach for the moon, when you can have the STARS? Just click your mouse three times on the show’s new website to apply, and you’ll see that there’s no place like the California Gift Show January 16–19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

In true Hollywood fashion, awards will be given when the California Gift Show introduces its Best New Product Award, the California STARS. And, to help make sure the world knows all about those products – and awards – the show has retooled and re-launched its already extensive website at www.californiagiftshow.com. Winners of the first California STARS Award will be announced on Saturday, January 17, 2009.

“This is Hollywood – what better place to have an award show,” said Angelia Singleton, California Gift Show Manager, noting that all entries will be highlighted in a special display throughout the Show. “With hundreds of new products introduced to the market each Show, we wanted to acknowledge those products that shine brightly above the others.”

The eight STARS Award categories include Gift (stationery, specialty food and culinary items), Home & Garden, Fashion Accessories, Green (Sustainable, Fair trade), Resort, International and Handcrafted (US only). Retailers will also be able to vote on an eighth award: Retailer’s Choice. Show attendees may stop by the California STARS display in the Gift Etc division in the Gift Show’s 2900 aisle to pick up their ballots. Judges for the California STARS Awards include Liezel Munez Gunn (west coast contributing editor of ‘O’ the Oprah magazine and the ‘O’ list) and other members of the consumer and trade press.

The 2009 California Gift Show will take place January 16 – 19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The semi-annual California Gift Show is managed by GLM, a dmg world media business.
