Alton, IL – It was part frustration and part playfulness that led Lindsey Weiss to the name of her new children’s clothing boutique in Alton Square Mall.

“We have a cat named Stitch and a cat named Little,” Weiss said. “I was just throwing out random names one day — there’s this (clothing) line called Isobella and Chloe, and I was like, ‘If they can use two names, why can’t I use two names? What about Stitches and Littles?’ That was before it really occurred to me that Stitches and Littles would actually really work for a clothing store.”

It did work — Stitch and Little also make cameos on the business’s sign — and Stitches and Littles opened in the upper level of the mall on Nov. 23. The opening was just in time for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping, an ideal time to be open as a retail business.
