Stores with resident cats and dogs make shopping more fun
Texas — If you’re an animal lover, chances are you look for places to get your fur fix while out shopping, running errands or just having fun. We’ve rounded up a dozen of our favorite establishments featuring shop grrls and boys. Get in line for your licks and purrs.
Four-year-old Nikki the shih tzu has been “going to work” since she was about 8 weeks old, says owner Mary Kubera, proprietor of BeTween Scene, an Inwood Village emporium selling clothing, shoes, accessories and gift items for boys and girls 6 to 13.
Nikki considers herself “one of the kids,” Kubera says. “She wants all the attention; she really loves it when we chase her, and if there are customers in the store, they’ll start chasing her, too.” Kubera says Nikki’s especially good at getting customers into the store. “She sits in the window and watches, and she goes crazy when someone starts to come in the door.”
