New store offers ‘a little bit of heaven’; The Suds and Scent Company now open downtown
A new store in the heart of Lindsay’s downtown is offering products that will help its customers make the most out of some of life’s most relaxing moments.
The Suds and Scent Company opened at 132 Kent Street West on April 15 and a grand opening was held on Saturday.
The idea was to bring something completely unique to the area, said store owner Melody Popovic, who also owns and operates Galaxy Picture Framing right next door. She said she was inspired by a store she fell in love with in Toronto.
The new store, managed by Debra Hayward, offers a wide variety of specialty soaps and skin care products.
It’s an exciting time for Popovic, who was busy gearing up for the stores opening after months of preparations.
“It’s come from an idea,” she said, noting how Galaxy was an existing business that she took over. But The Suds and Scent Company is completely new.
“I hope a lot of people around here enjoy it because we just didn’t have something like it,” she said.
Soaps offered range from fragrant ones to unscented. Among the natural soaps on hand include a line from Newfoundland made specifically for moms and their newborns.
The ‘Simple’ line of soaps are made at a store of the same name in Peterborough. Popovic said being able to sell the products was key to the store coming to fruition.
The new store also has a line of soy candles, potpourri crystals, reed diffusers and environmentally-friendly house hold cleaners, such as detergents and dish soaps.
