Pottery shop brings Italy to youBy Pam WitmerNews-Press.com

Florida — The sun, the sea, wine grapes and lemons. It’s all there in the colors and designs of Italian pottery from the Amalfi Coast of southern Italy.

Shoppers can visit the Taste of Sorrento & Positano in Naples and see that regional pottery. That’s the Naples in Collier County, by the way.

The lemon-yellow shop with white trim and hand-painted Italian tiles is filled with dishes and home accessory pieces imported directly from Italy.

Some designs, like the hand-painted geometric patterns on pottery wastebaskets, were created by Vietri just for the local shop.

The wastebaskets sell for $150. They could also be used for plants in clay pots set in them, or for a large collection of kitchen utensils on the counter.

The Sorrento area of Italy is famous for lemons, so there are plenty of pottery pieces with lemon patterns throughout the shop.

I’m smitten with the pattern of azure blue with vibrant yellow lemons and green leaves.

The same pattern is also done in a light turquoise with the lemons.

Espresso cups done in the lemon pattern, in either color, are $12.80 each.

The shop also imports Italian wines and liqueurs.

One of those liqueurs is Limoncello. It is lemon flavored and comes from the Sorrento area, where lemons grow the size of grapefruit.
