Denton, TX – Though the state’s tax-free weekend came and went quickly, retailers say results were positive overall.

Consumer traffic was consistent throughout the three-day tax break for back-to-school shopping, which kept retailers occupied, as expected.

Jackie Varney, an employee at Courthouse Collection on West Hickory Street, said the weekend went pretty well at the clothing and gift shop Friday and Saturday.

Many took advantage of the holiday to save sales taxes on clothing and footwear that cost less than $100, she said.
